Goa Khabar:The Aam Aadmi Party has demanded a judicial probe into the attack on social activist Rama Kankonkar, after his shocking statement naming Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte as suspected masterminds behind the attack.
Addressing the media, AAP State President Adv. Amit Palekar said these are not ordinary allegations and that the matter has shaken public faith in Goa’s law and order system.
“Rama’s statement has left a big question on the BJP government, which needs to be investigated thoroughly. The CM and the Tourism Minister must immediately step aside till the investigation is completed.” Palekar said.
He added that the investigation must be conducted by an independent Judicial Committee, not by the police machinery controlled by the same government whose leaders are accused.
“How can people trust the Goa Police if there is political interference in the force? When the Chief Minister himself is under suspicion, there is no possibility of a fair probe under his watch.”
Palekar warned that the issue is no longer limited to one person but has become a test of Goa’s democracy and governance.
“This is no longer about Rama alone — it concerns every Goan and the state of law and order in Goa. When citizens fear for their lives and political leaders are accused of being behind attacks, it shows that Gundaraj has taken deep root in Goa. The mastermind of this Gundaraj must be brought before the people.”
The Aam Aadmi Party demanded that:
1. A Independent Judicial probe into the Rama Kankonkar attack.
2. CM Dr. Pramod Sawant and Minister Rohan Khaunte step aside until the probe is completed.
“The masterminds of Gundaraj in Goa must be exposed and held accountable before the people of Goa. Justice delayed will only confirm that the BJP Government is shielding its own,” Palekar concluded.
