Goa Khabar : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday lashed out at the BJP after its official Twitter handle belittled Friday’s massive protest in Panaji and threatened Goans. AAP leaders said the BJP’s tweet, which warned citizens to “think twice before acting,” was nothing short of intimidation against those raising their voice against the government’s failures.

AAP leaders further added that the tweet only exposed BJP’s fear as Goans (activists, opposition leaders, and citizens) united to demand justice and accountability after the daylight assault on social activist Rama Kankonkar.

AAP Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar said the BJP has chosen to threaten Goans instead of fixing law and order. “We protested as Goans, not as politicians. An activist was brutally attacked in the heart of the capital. Tomorrow it could happen to anyone. BJP is rattled, and their white-collared leaders are hiding behind arrogant tweets instead of protecting people”.

“If BJP calls itself a 4 lakh family, they must remember the rest of Goa’s 13 lakh population stands against them. “Bhivpachi Garaz Asa (It’s time for you to be scared),” he warned.

AAP General Secretary (Organisation) Shrikrishna Parab ridiculed BJP’s claims of strength. “If BJP really has 4 lakh loyal members, why did it have to import leaders from other parties everytime?Out of 12 ministers in the cabinet, 7 are ex-Congress, one from MGP, one was prime opposition member and only 3 are true BJP. This exposes their hollow claim.” He said the tweet reeked of “pure arrogance.”

Raising serious concerns over policing, AAP leader Sandesh Teleikar Dessai said, “The attack happened at 1 pm, FIR was filed only at 9 pm. That’s how the police work under Sawant. And within 24 hours, the CM shamelessly said there was no mastermind. Is he protecting someone? We demand a free hand to police and arrest culprits under NSA act.”

AAP warned BJP that Goans will not be silenced by threats or arrogance. The party said the fight is no longer political but people’s battle against a collapsing law and order under CM Pramod Sawant.
