Goa Khabar : Free health camps being organised across the State of Goa under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan are witnessing tremendous response from women who are making use of the opportunity.
A camp organised at Government Primary and Middle School, Curca, by the Primary Health Centre, Chimbel, today, September 20, had around 70 women and children availing various services free of cost. Shri. Viresh Borkar, MLA, St. Andre, who visited the camp, said that the camp received very good response from the public. He appealed all the residents of the nearby areas where camps are being held to make use of the opportunity.

“The medical facilities of pre-detection of cancer, diabetes and some other diseases that are being provided at the camps should be utilized by the women for betterment of their health. We should not wait for disease to become critical. Otherwise, it would become difficult to manage. Doctors will guide you about the course of treatment and will also give medicines free of cost. So, all people living in surrounding areas should come forward to get the benefit of the health camps,” he said.
Dr Jude Dsouza, Medical Officer and In-charge of Primary Health Centre, Chimbel, said that at the camp, people were provided various services such as enrolment for PMJAY and ABHA ID Card, general checkup, BP checkup, HB testing, diabetes screening, breast cancer screening, PAP smear test, sputum collection, chest Xray, and eye checkup. “All the services are being provided free of cost and the beneficiaries also get general medicines from the camp,” he said.

Praising the campaign, Dr Vijaya Naik, Medical Officer and Nodal Officer for Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, PHC Chimbel, said that the USP of the campaign was that it focused on women. “It is important that the women in the family remain healthy. Then only we can build a healthy family. The fact that the campaign is focusing on women and children is appreciable,” she said.

The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, launched by Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on September 17, marks the largest ever health outreach for women and children in India. The initiative, jointly led by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women & Child Development, will involve organising more than 10 lakh health camps from 17th September to 2nd October at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals and other government health facilities across the country to provide women-centric preventive, promotive, and curative health services at the community level.
In Goa, the camps are being organised at all the villages by health centres and other line departments with the motto of reaching out to every eligible citizen.
