Goa Khabar : Goa’s emerging table tennis stars will converge at the Chandor Club Multipurpose Hall for the 5th Naguesh and Sushila Verenkar Memorial All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, to be held from July 26 to 28, 2025. Organised by Chandor Club in association with the Goa Table Tennis Association, this prestigious ranking event caters to Boys and Girls in Under-11, Under-13, and Under-15 categories. The tournament, held in memory of the late Naguesh and Sushila Verenkar, continues to inspire young talent from across the state.

National ranking gold medallist Chandan Caro, who has dominated the U15 Boys category this season, will enter as the firm favourite. He will, however, face a strong challenge from the in-form Ruhaan Shaikh, who has not only emerged as the top seed in U13 Boys but is also seeded second in U15 Boys. Ruhaan’s convincing straight-game win over national ranking bronze medallist Yug Prabhu at the Mangeshi Ranking event has added momentum to his campaign. Adding further intrigue is Vedant Wagle, the young talent who had upset wins over both Yug and Ruhaan in earlier tournaments, and is quickly building a reputation as a rising force. The U15 category also has in the field Dhruva Kamat, a exciting player looking to bounce back into form, and Chinmay Bakhare, who began the season strongly at the BPS Ranking but has seen inconsistent results since then.

In the girls’ section, top seed Ishita Colaso has grown in stature as Goa’s most consistent player and in U15 Girls, she will look to maintain her winning run. In U13 Girls, Tisha Shaikh enters the fray with renewed confidence after clinching her maiden title at Mangeshi. But she will be up against an extremely competitive field. Aarna Lotlikar, Aayushi Amonkar, and Sachi Dessai — along with Tisha — are all currently joint top-ranked in the U13 Girls rankings, making this one of the most evenly matched categories in the circuit.

In U11 Girls, Anaya Shukla’s unbeaten streak remains intact, but her consistent finalist rival Shaurya Dessai has shown steady improvement and will look to reverse the result of their last two few encounters. Among the U11 Boys, Ishaan Colaso remains the top seed, though Ashank Dalvi, who took a game off Ishaan in the Mangeshi final, will be hungry for an upset. The tournament will also feature several other exciting young players looking to make a mark, including Kavyaa Khalap, Yuvaan Sanke, Gianna George, Shreysht Rane, and Aarish Shaikh among others, all of whom have shown promise in recent outings.

The tournament kicks off on July 26 with all Girls categories, followed by qualifying and main draw rounds for Boys U11, U13 and U15 on July 27, and the finals on July 28 from 3:30 PM onwards. The event is expected to draw large participation and enthusiastic local support, as Chandor once again becomes the focal point of sub junior table tennis in Goa.
