Goa Khabar : Sesa Technical School (STS), Vedanta Sesa Goa’s flagship CSR initiative successfully observed Swachhata Pakhwada, in alignment with the theme, ‘Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskar Swachhata; encouraging students to actively participate in initiatives that promote cleanliness and social responsibility. The event featured a series of activities that were intended at inculcating environmental consciousness amongst the students.
In accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs & Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Panaji, the Swachhata Pledge was taken by all STS trainees, reaffirming their commitment to a cleaner, greener future. To further engage students, a poster-making competition was organized under the theme “Swachhata Hi Seva,” which witnesses participation from over 160 students working in groups, demonstrating their creativity and commitment to the cause of cleanliness.
Coupled with the initiative, the STS students also committed themselves to a hunger free world by organising a walkathon as part of the #RunForZeroHunger under the banner of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon 2024. As part of the effort for every kilometre logged Vedanta will provide a meal pack for those in need, including animals. The walkathon also spread awareness on the ‘swachhta’ related issues. The event combined two extremely important facets for societal development & progress.
Mr. Gajendra Alarnicar, Principal of Sesa Technical School, expressed his pride in the student’s participation, stating, “At Sesa Technical School, we believe that education goes beyond textbooks; it encompasses a holistic approach to community building and sustainability. Our students have shown exceptional dedication during Swachhata Pakhwada, and I am confident they will continue to champion the values of cleanliness and social responsibility in their future endeavours. Such initiatives reflect our commitment to contributing to national missions like Swachh Bharat while also addressing critical societal needs like malnutrition.”
Ms. Leena Verenkar, Head of CSR, Vedanta Sesa Goa, shared her thoughts on the initiative, saying, “At Vedanta Sesa Goa, we are deeply committed to empowering our youth to become responsible citizens. Through programs like Swachhata Pakhwada, we instil values of cleanliness, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility in our students. The impressive participation from the trainees at Sesa Technical School exemplifies our belief that positive change begins with the younger generation. Their enthusiasm is a testament to our collective goal of contributing to the nation’s Swachh Bharat mission while addressing larger societal issues like hunger and education.”
Sesa Technical School remains committed to holistic education, offering not just vocational training but also nurturing a strong sense of community responsibility among its students. The STS has been contributing to youth development since inception in 1994 and so far 2000 youth have successfully graduated & acquired contemporary technical skills. The school has a formidable record of 100% placements, and recently has introduced COPA trade & introduction of girls to Engineering trades.
By aligning with national initiatives like Swachh Bharat and participating in movements such as RunForZeroHunger, Sesa Goa continues to play a pivotal role in driving positive change both at the grassroots and national levels and aims to drive ensuring transformation through meaningful initiatives.
