Atiqa Mir continues her good run in the MECO FMSCI RMC National Championship

Goa Khabar :  Atiqa Mir, the nine-year-old racing sensation who is the fastest Indian girl in four-wheel motorsports, finished 4th in the finals of Round 2 of the MECO FMSCI RMC National Championship held here in Bangalore on 7 July 2024. Competing against a grid of 20 karts, Atiqa ran as high as 3rd in the finals but had to settle for a 4th place finish after a tough battle with other competitors.

Hamza Balasinorwala and Danish Dalmiya from Rayo Racing secured first and second podium finishes, separated by just 0.509 seconds, while Rivaan Dev Preetham finished third, 1.047 seconds behind in the Micro-Max category. Atiqa, who crossed the finish line 4.340 seconds behind the leader, was driving a different brand of kart this weekend and had to adjust to several technical challenges yet performed well considering the limited track time she had.

Speaking after the race, Atiqa commented, “It was a good race with some tough fights at the beginning and end. I earned good points for the championship. The competition at the front is top-level, comparable to any international event. I’m happy with my performance this weekend, considering the limited track time I had in the new SODI Kart. Big thanks to my team, MSPORT, and Armaan Ebrahim, as always.”

Speaking on Atiqa’s performance, ace racer and Vice-President of MECO Motorsports, Armaan Ebrahim said, “Team Msport has had a promising start to the 2024 season. After taking over the podium in round 1 with Atiqa finishing 3rd. Coming into Rd 2 we worked well together, gradually moving towards the sharp end of the grid. Only 0.2 tenths covered the top 7 which made for some excellent racing. Atiqa did a tremendous job in holding her ground during these battles while making moves count when they mattered to finish strong and gather some valuable points in the finals.

Atiqa now heads back to Europe for top international events, including Le Mans in France, Kartmasters in the UK, and the Iron Dames Young Talent event – where she is the only Asian to be shortlisted for the initiative.
