Goa Khabar:On Day 2 of the ongoing 37th National Games of India, three more boxers qualified to the quarter-finals. The National Games, which are being held in Goa till November 8, 2023, saw some thrilling bouts at the Peddem Sports Complex on the second day of the event.
Panda Prahlad, Chouhan Gaurav and Jampula Shrisha were the three boxers who made Goa proud by advancing to the next round in their respective categories. Other boxers to qualify to the next round so far are – Lokesh (Elite Men 75-80 kg Light Heavyweight category), Sai Ayush (Elite Men 86-92 kg Heavyweight category), Niharika (Elite Women 57-60 kg Lightweight category), and Chanu Sanamacha (Elite Women 70-75 kg Middleweight category)

Prahlad displayed his skills and agility as he outboxed Manikandan V. of Tamil Nadu in a close contest. He secured a 4:1 victory in the Elite Men 54-57KG Feather category and advanced to the quarter finals. Gaurav showed his power and dominance as he delivered a knockout punch to Mohad Kamaran of Jammu and Kashmir in the Elite Men 92+KG Super Heavy category. He won the bout by RAC and moved to the next round. Shrisha was declared the winner by Walk Over in the Elite Women 63-66KG Welter category as her opponent Rawal Aarti of Delhi failed to turn up for the fight.
The next set of boxing matches to qualify for the quarter finals will be held on Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4. With today’s wins, the total number of boxers qualified to the next round has gone up to 7 boxers.

On day 3, in the Elite Men 48-51kg Fly, Goa’s Roshanzamir will face Delhi’s Anchit Sharma. In Elite Men 67-71kg Light Middle, Goa’s Rajat will fight against Mizoram’s Malsawmkima. In the Elite Women 48-50kg Light Fly, Goa’s Sakshi will go against Haryana’s Kalpana.
