Goa Khabar: Vedanta’s Value-Added Business inaugurated the Farmer Facility Centre under its Project Gram Nirman,at Navelim village. This new facility aims to provide comprehensive support and guidance to the farmers, serving as a one-stop center for all their farming-related consultations.
The Farmer Facility Centre represents Vedanta’s commitment to empowering local farmers and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. This initiative by Vedanta’s VAB in collaboration with Vanarai NGO, aims to enhance the livelihoods of farmers by offering structured support, education, and resources to enable them to become self-reliant and independent in their farming activities.

The center will serve as a hub for farmers to seek expert advice on various aspects of farming, including crop management, pest control, irrigation techniques, and training and awareness. By providing access to agricultural specialists and resources, the facility aims to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills necessary to maximize their agricultural productivity and sustainability.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Saptesh Sardesai, CEO of Vedanta’s Value-Added Business, said, “At Vedanta VAB, it’s our constant endeavour to be working for the benefit of our communities around. By collaborating with the Vanarai NGO we’ve inaugurated the Farmer Facility Centre under our flagship CSR Project Gram Nirman. This center represents our commitment to supporting and uplifting the farming community in a structured and sustainable manner. Through this initiative, we aim to empower farmers with the necessary guidance and resources to enhance their agricultural practices and achieve self-sufficiency”.

Mr. Vishambar Gawas, a local farmer and beneficiary of the Farmer Facility Centre from Navelim, said, “I would like to thank Vedanta’s constant efforts to provide support and assistance to the farmer’s associations with the help of Vanarai NGO. We have benefitted through the consultations and guidance of the agriculture specialist from Vanarai NGO and greatly appreciate the setting up of a center for the local farmers to seek urgent and necessary guidance.”
Vedanta’s VAB launched Project Gram Nirman in 2021 in partnership with Vanarai NGO to facilitate integrated village development in the peripheral villages. Under the project Gram Nirman company drives various structured community development interventions across multiple thematic areas including sustainable livelihood, women empowerment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, and Agriculture development in Amona & Navelim villages from Goa.
