 9 Persons Rescued by Drishti Lifesavers In Separate Incidents Over The Weekend

Goa Khabar: The past weekend witnessed a surge of incidents that kept the Drishti Marine lifesavers on their toes. There were a total of 7 rescues involving 9 persons,  1 medical emergency, and 4 children who were reported missing and later reunited with their families. 

 

Baga witnessed two single rescues over the weekend, a 24-year-old male from Nagpur, was rescued by Lifesaver Narayan Govekar using a jet ski. The other rescue involved a male aged 27 years hailing from Mumbai, who Lifesaver Naresh Govekar rescued.

Coincidentally, there were two single rescues at Dudhsagar. Upon noticing a 33-year-old male from Hyderabad drowning due to his life jacket getting loose and coming off, Drishti’s lifesaver Shahnawaj Nadaf rushed to aid the victim with the rescue tube. Also, on observing a 37-year-old male from Gujarat suffering from breathing difficulty while swimming, lifesaver Hanuman Bhajrantri rushed into the water with a surfboard and saved him.

 

Meanwhile, Morjim riverside witnessed a single rescue where a 55-year-old local from Pernem was found in distress and was drowning, lifesavers Suvesh Nagvekar, Jhilu Parab, and Aman Salgaonkar quickly jumped into action and secured the victim with the help of rescue tube, rescue board and jet ski respectively.

 

There was a single rescue at Vagator wherein a male aged 50 from Bardez was rescued by lifesaver Suhas Gawas with the help of a rescue tube. In another single rescue at Ozran beach, a 15-year-old girl from Ponda was rescued by Lifesaver Ketan Nagvekar with the help of a rescue tube.

 

There was a double rescue at Calangute, two males from Calangute aged 18 and 19  were rescued by Lifesaver Ajay Gaonkar with the help of the rescue board.

 

All the rescued victims are in stable condition.

 

At Candolim, a child aged 14 was reported missing by his brother, he was found a few minutes after the announcement was made by the lifesaver and was subsequently handed over to his brother after getting confirmation from the police officials.

 

Drishti lifesaver Sangharsh Asolkar found 2 children at Calangute who were reported missing by their respective families. One was aged 4 from Belgaum and the second was from Kolhapur. Both the children were safely reunited with their families after confirmation from the police officials.

 

In another incident, a 5-year-old boy from Karnataka was reported to be missing at Baga, he was found later and handed over to his family in the presence of police officials.

There was a medical emergency at Baga wherein a 38-year-old female from Kolkata while searching for her glasses in the water got overthrown by a huge wave. She managed to get out but was short of breath and oxygen had to be administered to her, later she was shifted to Candolim PHC. The condition of the victim is reported to be stable.
