Raghuvir & Premavati Salkar HSS Celebrates Bagless Day

Goa Khabar: The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Raghuvir & Premavati Salkar Higher Secondary School, Chorao, organised a Bagless Day on August 14, 2026, giving students an opportunity to move beyond conventional classroom learning and participate in traditional games, creative competitions and skill-based activities.

The programme featured several activities aimed at encouraging creativity, teamwork, concentration and sporting spirit among students.

Students Showcase Creativity in Coconut Shell Painting

A Coconut Shell Painting Competition received enthusiastic participation from students. Ismail Kukanur of XI Commerce secured the first prize, while Sejal Insulkar of XI Commerce won the second prize. Vedika Kandolkar of XII Arts bagged the third prize.

Traditional games were among the major attractions of the Bagless Day. Students participated enthusiastically in Tug of War and Lagori, with teachers and guests also joining the activities and adding to the festive atmosphere.

Other games included Foot Cricket, Filling Water in Bottles and Bouncing the Ball into the Bucket. The activities were designed to test and develop coordination, concentration, teamwork and agility among the participants.

Nina Vernekar Sponsors Event

The entire programme was sponsored by Chief Guest Nina Vernekar. Prizes were distributed by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries, including Prashil Salkar, Nita Lotlikar, Premanand Mahambare, Dilip Fondekar and Principal Sandeep Sawal.

Addressing the gathering, Vernekar appreciated the initiative and said traditional games help develop teamwork, unity and camaraderie among students.

Prashil Salkar recalled his childhood memories while participating in Lagori, while Premanand Mahambare highlighted the relevance of such activities in the context of NEP 2020, which emphasises holistic development and learning beyond academics.

Earlier, Principal Sandeep Sawal welcomed the dignitaries and participants and appreciated the PTA for organising the initiative. The programme was compered by Luiza Pereira.

The Bagless Day concluded on a cheerful note, with students, teachers and guests actively participating in the games and activities. The initiative turned the day into a memorable experience combining learning, creativity, teamwork and togetherness.
