BJP is a haven for culprits of 152 paper leaks; responsible for 25 suicides: Girish Chodankar

Goa Khabar: In a scathing attack, GPCC President Girish Chodankar on Sunday said that “BJP is a haven for culprits of 152 paper leaks and responsible for 25 student suicides.”

Chodankar came down heavily on the BJP Government while addressing a press conference at Congress House, Panaji.

Media & Communication Department Chairman Amarnath Panjikar, Youth Congress President Archit Naik, and NSUI State General Secretaries Kumar Arjun Gauli were also present.

He said the grave issue of paper leaks has persisted for the last ten years. “Every household has students, and presently, due to paper leaks, they are under pressure and stress. In the last ten years, almost 152 paper leak cases have occurred. Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is raising these issues to secure the future of students,” Chodankar stated, adding that Congress wants solutions to end this menace.

He pointed out that Rahul Gandhi’s “Chhatron Ki Goonj” program in Dehradun, Uttarakhand exposed several faulty processes and systems in examinations.

“This program received overwhelming response from the student community, as they are suffering and will continue to suffer if paper leaks are not stopped. Everyone is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who is responsible for this crisis. But Mr. Pradhan is not bothered. This shows how insensitive the BJP Government is towards students,” he said.

Chodankar stressed that the absence of convictions in 152 paper leak cases demonstrates government negligence. “When 152 paper leaks have happened in the past ten years, and there is no conviction, it is because BJP has become a haven for these culprits,” he said.

He further noted that around 7.5 crore students appeared for entrance exams in the last decade, with immense financial and emotional investment.

“Paper leaks are an injustice to those who study sincerely. They must be stopped,” he added.

Appealing to students to join Rahul Gandhi’s “Save Education, Save Your Future” movement, Chodankar said “Examinations should be conducted transparently. But the BJP Government has turned this into extortion. Almost 25 students have committed suicide due to paper leaks. We must think of the families suffering from the loss of their children.”

He said that paper leaks affect both higher education and employment exams. “For six lakh jobs, around nine crore candidates appear. Who gets jobs? Those who pay for papers,” he pointed out.
