Goa Khabar : Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has paid a heartfelt tribute to Sir Garry Sobers, saying it is “incredibly tough to process” the loss of one of the greatest cricketers the game has ever seen.
Recalling their memorable moments together, Tendulkar said he had been looking back at cherished memories, including receiving the Player of the Tournament award from Sir Garry at the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup and later being felicitated by him after achieving the historic milestone of 100 international centuries.
Tendulkar described Sir Garry as an exceptionally gracious person whose warmth and humility left a lasting impression on everyone who met him.
The batting maestro also remembered their final meeting in London a few years ago, where they spent time talking about cricket. Reflecting on that moment, he said it was painful to realise that it would be the last time they would meet.
Calling Sir Garry Sobers “the One and Only,” Tendulkar said he would miss him immensely and concluded his tribute with a heartfelt message: “Rest in peace, Sir Garry.”
