Goa Khabar : Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar has strongly raised concern over the inordinate delay in filling vacant Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) posts in the Goa Police Department and has demanded immediate action from the Government to ensure justice to deserving Goan youth.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Goa and the Director General of Police on 17th June 2026, Chodankar highlighted that although 187 PSI posts were advertised under the recruitment process, only 126 candidates reportedly joined the training programme conducted in Delhi, leaving more than 60 posts vacant.

The GPCC President pointed out that a Waiting List of qualified candidates was officially published in February 2026. However, despite the availability of vacant posts and the successful completion of all stages of the recruitment process by the waiting list candidates, the authorities have failed to initiate the next steps of Document Verification and Medical Examination for over four months.

“Such an unexplained delay is causing immense hardship and uncertainty to deserving Goan youth who have worked hard, cleared the examinations and fulfilled all eligibility requirements. This delay amounts to a denial of their rightful opportunity and raises serious questions about the Government’s commitment towards transparent and merit-based recruitment,” Chodankar stated.

He further emphasized that many candidates from OBC and other reserved categories are among those awaiting consideration, making it imperative that all remaining vacancies are filled strictly as per category-wise reservation norms.

In his letter, Chodankar has demanded:

  • Immediate issuance of calls to all eligible candidates on the Waiting List for Document Verification and Medical Examination.
  • Filling of all remaining PSI vacancies in accordance with category-wise reservation requirements.
  • A clear and time-bound schedule for completing the recruitment process within the next 15 to 20 days.
  • Full transparency regarding the operation of the Waiting List and the status of vacant posts.

The GPCC President also noted that Goa Police continues to face manpower shortages and that filling these vacancies would strengthen the force while simultaneously providing employment opportunities to qualified Goan youth.

“The Government must act without further delay. Every deserving candidate has the right to a fair opportunity, and every vacant post must be filled in the interest of public administration and law enforcement. Goa’s youth deserve justice, transparency and timely action,” Chodankar asserted.

GPCC has urged the Government to respond positively and immediately address the grievances of the waiting list candidates in the larger interest of fairness, good governance and strengthening the Goa Police force.
