Goa Khabar : The Goa Football Association expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Antonio Mascarenhas, President of Ave Maria Athletic & Walkers Club, a dedicated figure who worked for the development of football at the grassroots level.

Antonio Mascarenhas was more than a club administrator; he was a guiding force for countless young footballers. Through Ave Maria Athletic & Walkers Club, he created a nurturing environment for underprivileged and marginalized boys from Khareband and across the Salcete region. His commitment ensured that these youngsters were not only introduced to football but were also given opportunities to grow through sport and education.

Under his leadership, Ave Maria consistently fielded age-group teams in Goa Football Association competitions, reflecting his strong belief in youth development. Many players who began their journey under his mentorship went on to represent various clubs in GFA leagues, carrying forward the values and discipline instilled in them.

His contribution to uplifting underprivileged youth through football will remain a lasting legacy within the Goan football community.

GFA President Dr. Caitano Fernandes said, “Antonio Mascarenhas dedicated his life to giving young footballers a chance to dream and succeed. His work at the grassroots level has left a meaningful impact on the game in Goa. He will be remembered not only for his passion for football but for the lives he touched along the way.”

The Goa Football Association extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and the entire Ave Maria Athletic & Walkers Club fraternity.
