Goa Khabar : South Goa District Coordination committee for Control of Vector Borne Diseases and South Goa District Task Force for Malaria Elimination held its meeting today to intensify efforts towards elimination of Malaria in the State.
The meeting chaired by Additional Collector II, South Goa Ramesh Gaonkar at south Goa collectorate reviewed status of various measures implemented for achieving malaria elimination.
Deputy Director of Health Services for NVBDCP Dr. Kalpana Mahatme informed that Goa is heading towards Malaria Elimination. The data for Sub – National Malaria Elimination maintaining an Annual Parasite Incidence (API) in the category -I with zero cases has been submitted to Govt of India for an award of validation.
The Committee discussed on activating all the Committees constituted at Panchayat level for Garbage control, water Sanitation and health and meetings to be conducted on regular basis with forwarding minutes of meeting to Health Department.
In efforts to curb spread of vector borne diseases in the industrial areas, the committee asked GIDC to submit list of functioning, non functional units and details of industrial units with para medical facilities and also construction details going on in Industrial estates.
The committee also instructed Directorate of Panchayat to take measures for Garbage management and for collecting tender coconut shells before monsoon in order to control vector borne diseases.
