Goa Khabar : Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, along with former Delhi Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Atish and MLA Venzy Viegas, inaugurated the E-Library initiative in Benaulim which is aimed at giving students free access to quality educational resources and competitive exam preparation.
The inauguration of E-libarary preceded with a small event in which AAP National convenor Shri Arvind Kejriwal handed over sanction letter of Free Cataract operation to 5 elderly present at the venue.
Shri Arvind Kejriwal said that the initiative started by MLA Venzy Viegas is a step towards securing the future of children in the constituency. Once all the schools in Benaulim join this programme it will help nearly 4500 students.
He stated that with the rapid inflation, buying textbooks, most basic necessity, has become a burden for families. Coaching for NEET and JEE is so expensive that middle class cannot even think of it. This e-library changes that. Students will now have access to thousands of books, reference material, and competitive exam resources without paying lakhs of rupees.
“Many times people don’t realise the power of their vote. Some get influenced by money or small favours. But when you elect the right representative, like AAP which stands with the people, your entire family benefits, your children’s future improves and Capt. Venzy is proving it in Goa”.
He questioned people on how many MLAs spend their own salary for the service of the people which MLA Venzy has done, without sitting back and only blaming the government. Parties play politics to earn money for generations. This is the difference between Us and Them. For AAP, politics is not a business. Politics is a means to serve people and clean the system.
He added that none of AAP’s leadership comes from political families and that the party entered politics to transform governance, not to run dynasties or deceit. Education and healthcare are the responsibility of the government and the current regime has failed to live up to these responsibilities, citing that 212 government schools have been shut since 2014.
Even with very limited powers, our two MLAs in Goa are showing what governance should look like, Imagine what we can do if given the responsibility to run the entire state, he said.
He cited Delhi’s model of public healthcare and insurance support and said AAP wants to replicate governance that prioritises ordinary families.Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, in her address, said the true test of governance is whether it secures the future of children.
“The tragedy of politics in Goa is that many leaders forget the people once they come to power. But AAP has shown that work does not depend on holding office. Cruz Silva and Venzy Viegas have started clinics from their MLA offices, supported medical treatments, and delivered real help. That is the difference between politics for power and politics for people,” she said.
She demanded that governments must provide strong public education and healthcare systems instead of leaving citizens to fend for themselves.
MLA Venzy Viegas thanked Arvind Kejriwal for inspiring what he described as an education-driven political movement and for having shown the country that education can become the centre of politics. Since 2022, we have been building a model in Benaulim step by step. He stated that this e-library is not symbolic, it gives every student a login ID, access to NCERT syllabus, NEET and JEE preparation courses, and digital simulations from their own homes.
He added that the goal is to remove inequality in education “Our intention is clear, whether a child comes from a rich or poor family, the quality of education should be the same. What we have begun in Benaulim can be implemented across Goa. Give us the opportunity, and we will take this change to every constituency,” Viegas asserted.
The launch of the E-Library in Benaulim marks another politically significant step by AAP in positioning education and healthcare at the centre of governance in Goa.
