Department of Tourism conducts enforcement drive to ensure beach safety and regulatory compliance

Goa Khabar : The Department of Tourism, in coordination with law enforcement authorities, conducted a focused enforcement drive to ensure safety, discipline, and strict adherence to regulatory norms along identified beach stretches. The operation was led by Mr. Rodlin Mascarenhas, Deputy Director , Department of Tourism.

During the drive, a hawker, Mr. Mohammad Kareem Shaikh, found operating in violation of prescribed norms, was handed over to the Tourist Police for further necessary action. The individual concerned paid a fine of ₹5,000, as per applicable provisions. Additionally, an unauthorised party setup outside Ouzo private shack was removed with the assistance of the Tourist Police, restoring order and compliance.

As part of the same enforcement action, unauthorised advertisement materials were identified and removed. Coca-Cola advertisement flags were taken down from beach areas at Mobor (Cavelossim), Khandivaddo (Cavelossim), and Fatradea (Varca). Flags displayed at Mobor Cavelossim and Khandivaddo beach were also removed to ensure conformity with beach management and advertising regulations.

Director of Tourism, Kedar Naik, stated, “The Department of Tourism remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining Goa’s beaches as safe, clean, and well-regulated public spaces. Such enforcement drives, undertaken in close coordination with the Tourist Police and other authorities, are essential to uphold discipline, prevent unauthorised activities, and promote responsible tourism across the state.”

The Department of Tourism will continue to conduct regular inspections and enforcement drives across coastal and tourist areas to ensure compliance with established norms and to safeguard the overall visitor experience in Goa.
