Goa Khabar :The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee strongly condemns the sheer administrative failure and apathy of the BJP Government and its concerned departments in addressing the chronic traffic congestion near the Goa Medical College (GMC) junction, especially during peak hours. Today, traffic was held up for over 40 minutes, putting countless lives at risk, especially patients requiring immediate medical care during the golden hour stated Amarnath Panjikar.
The root cause of this recurring nightmare is the simultaneous dispersal of multiple schools in the Cujira School Complex, which leads to massive congestion as parents arrive in private vehicles to pick up their children. This issue becomes more severe during the monsoons, and yet the authorities continue to turn a blind eye to this predictable and preventable disaster Said Amarnath Panjikar.

It is shocking that despite this being a regular phenomenon, no systemic changes have been made. Basic measures such as staggered release timings of schools and colleges — at 5-10-15 -minute intervals — have not been implemented. This failure reflects not just poor planning but also utter disregard for public safety, particularly for the working population, daily commuters, and critically ill patients heading to GMC ,Goa’s premier medical institution stated Panjikar.
The Congress party warns that any delay in medical emergency response due to traffic mismanagement is a form of criminal negligence. The BJP government must be held accountable for this gross lapse that could lead to avoidable deaths.
We demand that the Education Department, Traffic Police, and Directorate of Transport immediately coordinate and implement a regulated school release system, improved traffic control mechanisms, and emergency corridors around GMC and the Cujira complex.
Goa deserves efficient governance, not excuses. The BJP Government must stop risking lives with its incompetence and start acting in public interest before a tragedy occurs demanded Amarnath Panjikar.
