Goa Khabar : During the Zero Hour of the assembly session, MLA Viresh Borkar raised a critical issue regarding the lack of fuel and insurance subsidies for private bus operators in Goa. Borkar expressed concern that the state government had not made any provisions in the budget for such schemes, despite the growing financial challenges faced by the private bus sector.
Speaking during the session, Borkar pointed out that rising fuel prices and escalating insurance premiums have become a heavy burden on private bus operators, He stressed that these operators play a vital role in Goa’s public transport system by providing affordable and accessible transportation to many citizens.
“The government has failed to provide any support in the budget to address these issues, which are making it increasingly difficult for private bus operators to sustain their services,” Borkar said. He further urged the government to implement a direct fuel subsidy and a subsidized insurance scheme to ease the financial strain on operators and ensure that public transport remains affordable for the people of Goa.
