releases Missed-call helpline to register public protest

Goa Khabar:Under the BJP-led government, Goa has repeatedly witnessed attempts to sell off the State’s land and hand it over to outsiders – using draconian tools like Section 39A of the TCP Act. This has become one of the most burning issues facing the State today, and there is growing anger among the people of Goa over the systematic erosion of their land, identity and way of life.

Responding to this widespread public anger, the Indian National Congress, under the leadership of AICC President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge ji, launched the campaign ‘Goy Vikpak Divche Na, BJP’k Jikpak Divche Na’ (Won’t Let Goa Be Sold, Won’t Let BJP Win) on 17th August.

To take this campaign forward, senior leaders of the party, led by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Shri Girish Chodankar, Leader of Opposition Shri Yuri Alemao, Member of Parliament Shri Viriato Fernandes , Working Presidents M K Shaikh, Altone D’Costa , Sunil Kawthankar and other senior office-bearers, today addressed a press conference in Panaji, detailing the Congress party’s stand on the issue and outlining how all workers will take the campaign to every corner of Goa.

As part of the campaign, the party has launched an innovative missed-call number — 808096 3939 — through which people from every corner of Goa can register their protest against the sale of the State’s land.

After this Press Conference, senior leaders also attended the ongoing Karapur Sarvan Agitation against the House of Abhinandan Lodha Mega Project – which has been going on for over 150+ days.

In the coming weeks, party workers and supporters will go door-to-door across the State to inform citizens about the campaign and mobilise public support against the BJP government’s disastrous land policies.
