Parul University Goa Marks New Chapter in Higher Education with Grand Orientation Programme 2026

Dona Paul: Parul University Goa organised its Grand Orientation Programme 2026 at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Taleigao, welcoming the second batch of over 1,100 Goan students entering the state’s first State Private University. The orientation marked a significant milestone in expanding the state’s higher education landscape, offering a wide array of emerging and future-focused career pathways closer to home.

The grand ceremony was highlighted by the felicitation of Parul University’s standout student-athletes and high achievers. Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant personally presented awards and certificates to the university’s football players and the winners of the AI Nation Youth Festival. Additionally, various students were awarded scholarships, aligning with the government’s mandate to support and facilitate financial aid for students pursuing education within private universities in Goa.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant congratulated the management and faculty of Parul University Goa for establishing Goa’s first State Private University and expanding opportunities for students within the State. “It would have been difficult for many Goan students to go outside the State for higher education if institutions like Parul University had not started in Goa. Today, students have access to a wider range of courses, emerging fields and career opportunities right here at home.”

Highlighting the importance of private universities in strengthening research and innovation, CM Dr. Sawant said that across industries, there is a rapidly growing demand for skills in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, and Machine Learning. Parul University focuses on emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, healthcare, biotechnology and other future-oriented courses. Competitive exam preparation (UPSC/GPSC) gives our youth the tools to grab emerging local opportunities. Through continuous skilling, reskilling, and upskilling, these young minds will become the core contributors to a Viksit Goan landscape by 2037 and a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

He highlighted various initiatives of the Government aimed at youth empowerment, including Startup Goa, Chief Minister’s Rojgar Yojana, apprenticeship programmes, career fairs and transparent recruitment through the Goa Staff Selection Commission. He also highlighted the importance of fitness, personality development and holistic growth among youth, stating that education must prepare students not only academically but also professionally and personally.
