Goa Khabar:Chairman of the Media & Communication Department of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, Amarnath Panjikar, stated that the latest NCRB data exposing Goa as the state with the highest rape crime rate in the country is a shocking indictment of the BJP Government led by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant. This is the real shameful report card of the BJP regime in Goa, where women’s safety has been dangerously compromised while the government remains busy with image management and publicity campaigns.
Amarnath Panjikar pointed out that according to the NCRB report, Goa recorded 105 rape cases and 19 stalking FIRs in 2024, placing the state at the top in terms of rape crime rate in India. Amarnath Panjikar stated that these figures are not mere statistics but reflect the growing insecurity, fear, and complete failure of governance under the BJP administration.
Amarnath Panjikar said that the BJP government repeatedly speaks about “women empowerment”, “Nari Shakti Vandan “and “good governance,” but the ground reality in Goa tells a completely different story.
Mr. Amarnath Panjikar alleged that instead of strengthening law and order, ensuring faster justice, and creating a safe environment for women, the government appears more focused on public relations exercises, event management, and political propaganda.
Amarnath Panjikar further stated that the people of Goa are deeply concerned about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. Women deserve safety, dignity, and confidence in the system, but under the present BJP government, that confidence is steadily eroding.
BJP Government cannot hide behind advertisements and slogans while crime against women continues to rise. Accountability cannot be replaced with propaganda and questioned why Goa has reached such a disturbing position nationally despite repeated claims of good governance by the BJP government said Mr. Panjikar.
Pradesh Congress Committee demanded immediate corrective measures, stronger policing, fast-track mechanisms for crimes against women, and greater accountability from those responsible for maintaining law and order in the state. Amarnath Panjikar reiterated that the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee will continue to raise its voice until women in Goa feel safe and secure once again.
