LoP Alemao, MLA Altone supports ST to protect wet land in Chimbel
Goa Khabar: In a scathing attack, Leader of opposition Yuri Alemao on Monday stated that BJP Government has only used ST community for votes, and has failed protecting their rights and land.
Congress leader Yuri Alemao was speaking after meeting ST community people protesting against Unity Mall and Prashasan Stambh projects in the Chimbel village, which is proposed against the wishes of locals.
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and Congress leader Samil Volvoikar were also present.
He also appealed people to gather in large number for public meeting scheduled on January 4, against these projects.
“Despite the stay order from court, Government is continuing with work of these projects. It is not even respecting court. Construction of both these projects on wetland should be scrapped,” Alemao said.
He asked Govt to stop Dadagiri and stop imposing projects on people—which causes destruction to environment.
“This is lootmar Sarkar. They are doing contempt of court by disobeying its stay order. They should stop this dadagiri, if they don’t stop, people of Goa will gather here on January 4 and intensify this protest,” Alemao warned.
“After Zilla Panchayat election results BJP should have realised the wrath of public. But they have arrogance of power. I am confident that people will show them door in 2027 for destruction of environment, conversion of lands, killing people in night clubs, illegal sale of land and dividing people,” Alemao asserted.
