Goa Khabar : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has come down heavily on the Pramod Sawant-led BJP government after a 25-year-old youth lost his life on Cuchelim–Marna road in Mapusa while trying to avoid potholes. AAP leaders said the BJP government only wakes up when tragic incidents occur, while people continue to risk their lives every day.
Speaking to the media in Mapusa, AAP General Secretary (Organisation) Shrikrishna Parab said, “It took the tragic death of a young boy for the government to fill potholes on the Cuchelim–Marna road. And even then, they filled only the spot where the accident happened. This proves that the BJP government acts only when lives are lost. How many more lives will it take before we get proper road infrastructure?”
Parab further added, “AAP has been highlighting pothole-ridden roads in Mapusa and across Goa for months. But BJP sleeps until tragedies strike. I urge the new PWD Minister Digambar Kamat to immediately speed up repairs across the state”.

AAP Vice President Sunil Singnapurkar also questioned the accountability of PWD officials. “In Mapusa, PWD has an entire setup with junior engineers and assistant engineers. They floated tenders worth crores before monsoons. Yet Mapusa’s road infrastructure remains one of the worst. Where did all that money go? Why were potholes not fixed?”
AAP Goa Youth Wing Vice President Salman Khan urged Mapusa voters to reflect before electing leaders who fail to deliver basic infrastructure. “People pay taxes but get dangerous roads in return. I had repeatedly warned that accidents would happen, but the MLA ignored it. Only after this tragic death did they rush to fill potholes, that too with shoddy work. If potholes are loosely filled with rubble why do we need MLAs? We will only do it” he said.
#BJPCheBurak: AAP takes door-to-door signature campaign in Priol, Thvim and Mayem against dangerous roads
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa has intensified its campaign against the BJP government’s complete failure in providing safe roads to the people of Goa. After launching the #BJPCheBurak door-to-door signature campaign in Saligao, the party has carried out similar drives in other parts of North Goa covering Bicholim, Priol, Thivim and Mayem on Sunday.
In Thivim, the campaign was led by AAP leader Uday Salkar and in Mayem the campaign was led by AAP General Secretary Organisation Shrikrishna Parab. During the campaign, citizens expressed deep anguish, anger and frustration at the crumbling road infrastructure which has turned into death traps.
The signature campaign, launched on 4 September in Saligao, had already seen an overwhelming response from the people. The huge response to AAP’s campaign shows that Goans are ready to hold the BJP accountable.
The campaign highlights rising public anger over the BJP’s failure to provide basic amenities and curb corruption. AAP leaders called it the start of a larger movement to demand accountability, expose the BJP-contractor nexus, and make Goa’s roads safe.
