Investigate how many terrorists like ISIS’s Ayesha are residing in Goa : Mla Cruz Silva
Goa Khabar : Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Benaulim, Captain Venzy Viegas, brought attention to two important issues on the very first day of the Assembly session, drawing significant attention in the House. He highlighted the matter of several Goan youths, along with other Indian youngsters, being detained and imprisoned in the United States while searching for employment.
MLA Viegas urged the state government to reach out to the U.S. Embassy and extend the necessary support to secure the release of these youths. Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Velim, Engr. Cruz Silva, demanded during the assembly session that a thorough investigation be conducted into how many terrorists like ISIS’s Ayesha are residing in Goa.
He also demanded that the government initiate communication with Air India and other airline companies to take necessary steps to ensure that flights resume stopping at Dabolim Airport before the end of the Assembly session. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant assured MLA Viegas in the House that the government would extend full cooperation and work towards resolving both these important matters.
Regarding the detention of Indian youths, including Goans, in the U.S., the Chief Minister requested that any available information be shared with his office. He stated that similar issues had been resolved in the past with the cooperation of the Chief Minister’s Office and the NRI Commissioner, and promised all necessary legal and logistical assistance in this case as well. Dr. Sawant also stated that the government would write to Air India and other airlines, requesting them to resume flight halts at Dabolim Airport.
MLA Viegas, while elaborating on the issue of Goan and Indian youths being detained in immigration detention centers in the U.S., explained that due to limited job opportunities in Goa, several youths had travelled to the U.S. in search of employment. They have been detained and are unable to contact their families, which has led to great distress for both the youths and their families. He demanded that the U.S. Embassy provide detailed information on the number of youths detained, whether they were held due to expired passports or other documentation issues, and that the government extend them the necessary legal assistance.
MLA Viegas also expressed his willingness to personally assist in reaching out to the U.S. Embassy to resolve the matter. He strongly urged the government to take immediate steps for the release of the detained youths. MLA Venzy Viegas concluded his intervention after receiving assurance from Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant that both issues would be addressed.
Investigate how many terrorists like ISIS’s Ayesha are living in Goa : MLA Cruz Silva
Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Velim, Engr. Cruz Silva, demanded during the assembly session that a thorough investigation be conducted into how many terrorists like ISIS’s Ayesha are residing in Goa. Goa is an international tourist destination. Tourists from across the country and abroad visit Goa. Large-scale festivals are held at temples and churches in the state, attended by thousands of people.
Recently, a grand exposition of Saint Francis Xavier was held in Old Goa, attended by lakhs of people. Since the event was well organized, we congratulated the Chief Minister. However, during the same period, ISIS operative Ayesha was also staying in Old Goa and was involved in ISIS activities. Now that the Uttar Pradesh Police have arrested her, everything has come to light.
But how is it that Goa Police and the Crime Branch had no information about this ISIS-linked woman, Ayesha? This question was raised by MLA Cruz Silva. He further questioned what would have happened if a terrorist attack like the one in Pulwama had occurred in Goa.
He strongly demanded a detailed investigation into the entire incident. Furthermore, he called for a deep probe into how many terrorists like Ayesha are living in Goa and insisted that precautionary measures must be taken in the interest of public safety.
