Goa Khabar: In line with Vedanta Sesa Goa’s unwavering commitment towards community healthcare, Dr. Chandrakant P Shetye, MLA of Bicholim constituency and Shri Premendra Shet, MLA of Maem Constituency inaugurated the Vedanta Mobile Health Unit (MHU) at Bicholim Municipal Council, Bicholim. Notable dignitaries from the local administration and the senior leadership of Vedanta Sesa Goa including Sudan Vasudev Govekar, Councilor- Lumgao Ward, Bicholim Municipality and Vedanta Sesa Goa executives including Dhiraj Kumar Jagdish, Deputy CEO- Iron Ore Goa (IOG), Leena Verenkar, Head-ESG Sesa Goa and Santosh Mandrekar, Head- North & Central Cluster, IOG were also present, reaffirming the company’s dedication to community development and welfare. Vedanta Sesa Goa’s Mobile Health Unit (MHU) is designed to bring essential healthcare services free of cost, right at the doorstep of communities in Bicholim and surrounding areas as the region prepares for resumption of mining activities.
Dr. Chandrakant P Shetye, MLA-Bicholim applauded this CSR initiative of Vedanta Sesa Goa and congratulated it and urged the people of Bicholim to come forward and avail these facilities.
Shri Premendra Shet, MLA, Maem also appreciated & congratulated Sesa Goa for bringing free medical facilities at the doorstep of people from different villages, like Bicholim, Mayem, Mulgao, Piligao and Shrigao, especially those who can’t afford it.

Leena Verenkar, Head-ESG, Vedanta Sesa Goa informed that the MHU brings a wide range of comprehensive services such as basic health services, diagnostic services including tests for blood and sugar, OPD, medical consultation and free distribution of medicines for all sections of the society.

Prior to this, Vedanta Sesa Goa had organized a specialized health check-up camp for women in Bhatwada, Lamgao. The camp catered to the healthcare needs of over 73 women from the local communities and neighboring villages. A Geriatric Health check-up camp was also organised for senior citizens at Baba Savoikar Seva Pratishthan’s 2nd Inning Day Care Centre, where 20+ Sr. citizens availed of free medical consultation services and medicines. The initiative reiterates Vedanta Sesa Goa’s commitment to promoting the well-being of women and ensuring accessible healthcare services for all.
