Goa Khabar : Drishti Marine lifesavers on Wednesday (July 8) rescued two fishermen after their canoe capsized in the river, located adjacent to the Morjim beach.
The rescue was initiated at around 12 noon after a local resident alerted the lifesavers about the incident. A jet ski was immediately deployed to the location. Drishti Marine lifesaver captain Sakaram, along with another lifesaver, rescued two fishermen from the water, while a third fisherman was safely assisted onto an accompanying canoe.
All three fishermen were brought to safety and were reported to be in good condition.
Goa is experiencing the peak of the southwest monsoon, with strong winds, rough seas and turbulent waters making the coastline unsafe for swimming. Swimming remains prohibited along Goa’s beaches during this period, while a seasonal fishing ban is also in force.
To ensure public safety, Drishti Marine has deployed more than 450 trained lifesavers and beach marshals across the state’s major beaches, waterfalls and four inland water bodies to respond swiftly to emergencies and assist visitors.
