Goa Khabar : Reinforcing its commitment to operational safety, Konkan Railway organised a high-level seminar on safety and awareness at Level Crossing (LC) Gates at Corporate Office Belapur on March 26th, 2026.

The seminar brought together employees from across the Konkan Railway section who are directly associated with the functioning of Level Crossing Gates, including Gatemen, Supervisors, Station Masters and Loco Pilots. The session was chaired by Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman & Managing Director / KRCL, and was attended by Rajesh M. Bhadang, Director (Finance), Sunil Gupta, Director (Operation & Commercial) and Rajeev Kumar Mishra, Director (Way & Works) and Heads of Departments, reflecting the organisation’s strong emphasis on safety across all operational levels.

During the seminar, discussions focused on the proper utilisation of gate equipment, adherence to safety procedures, and protocols to be followed by Gatemen, Loco Pilots and Station Masters in case of any unusual occurrence at Level Crossing Gates. Emphasis was also laid on maintaining proper flange width and height gauges to ensure safe train operations.
Participants were sensitised about the need for clear road signage and markings near Level Crossing Gates to enhance safety for road users. Addressing the gathering, CMD/KRCL highlighted concerns regarding the upkeep of road surfaces at LC Gates and emphasised the benefits of installing durable rubber level crossing panels, which would improve riding comfort for road users while facilitating easier maintenance of the required flange width.
The seminar provided a platform for participants to share field experiences and best practices to further strengthen safety standards across the Konkan Railway network.
