Goa Khabar : Tennis enthusiasts can look forward to another exciting tournament as the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open returns for its third edition at the iconic Panjim Gymkhana in the state capital, registration for which is now open. The venue, established by Goa’s first Chief Minister, the late Dayanand Bandodkar, continues to host some of the state’s most prominent sporting events.

The period of registration for the state-ranking tournament ends on March 15.

Following the success of the earlier editions, the tournament will once again be organised in collaboration with the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA). The competition is scheduled to take place from March 21 to 29, bringing together players from across Goa  for nine days of competitive tennis.

The tournament will feature multiple categories designed to encourage participation across age groups and skill categories. In the Open category, players will compete in men’s singles, men’s doubles, ladies singles, ladies doubles and mixed doubles events.

The Masters category will include men’s singles 45+, men’s doubles 45+, men’s singles 60+ and men’s doubles 60+, providing experienced players with an opportunity to continue competing in organised tournament play.

The event will also highlight emerging talent through its Junior categories, which include under-12, under-14 and under-18 competitions for both boys and girls. These events aim to provide young athletes with valuable exposure to structured tournament competition and help nurture the next generation of tennis players in Goa.

Registrations for the tournament are now open and organisers expect a strong turnout of participants. Players are encouraged to register early to secure their place in one of Goa’s most anticipated tennis competitions, which honours the legacy of the state’s first chief minister.

Speaking about the upcoming edition, Sameer Kakodkar, president of GSTA, said the tournament has steadily built momentum over the past few years. “Events like this play an important role in encouraging more people to take up tennis and giving players of all age groups an opportunity to compete in a professional setting,” he said.

Giriraj Vengurlekar, Director at DB Bandodkar & Sons Group and Bandodkar’s grandson, noted that the tournament continues to strengthen the sporting culture in the state. “We are happy to see the growing participation in tennis across Goa and hope that this event motivates more young players to pursue the sport seriously,” he said.

Tournament Director Sandeep Heble added that the competition offers players a valuable platform to test their abilities. “The event brings together experienced players and promising young talent, creating an environment that encourages both learning and healthy competition,” he said.

With a packed schedule of matches across categories and participation from players across the state, the Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Tennis Open 2026 promises to deliver an exciting week of tennis for players and spectators alike.
