Police Commemoration Day observed across nation to honor martyrs

Goa Khabar : Today marks the 66th Police Commemoration Day, a solemn occasion to pay tribute to the brave police personnel who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. The day commemorates the sacrifices of ten valiant policemen who were martyred in an ambush by Chinese troops at Hot Springs, Ladakh on October 21, 1959.

The main commemoration ceremony was held at the National Police Memorial (NPM) in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi, where Union Home Minister paid homage to the martyrs. A joint parade of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Delhi Police was also held.

Tribute to Martyrs

The ceremony saw the participation of senior government officials, police dignitaries, and family members of martyrs. Wreaths were laid at the altar dedicated to the martyrs of Hot Springs, and the event was telecast live on Doordarshan and webcast on police websites.

Commemorative Events

To mark the occasion, various commemorative events are being organized at the NPM from October 22 to 30, 2025. These include:

  • Visits of family members of martyrs
  • Police Band Display
  • Motorcycle rallies
  • Run for martyrs
  • Blood donation camps
  • Essay and painting competitions for children
  • Display of video films showcasing sacrifice, valour, and services of police personnel

Similar programs are being organized by police forces across the country to honor the sacrifices of their brave personnel.
