Goa Khabar : On the occasion of Goa Revolution Day (Kranti Dis), Aam Aadmi Party leaders, MLAs and volunteers paid floral tributes at the Martyrs’ Memorial at Azad Maidan, honouring freedom fighters who launched the Goa Liberation Movement on 18th June 1946 under the leadership of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia.

From there, AAP leaders, including Capt. Venzy Viegas (MLA Benaulim), Cruz Silva (MLA Velim) and Amit Palekar led a peaceful march to the BJP office, but were blocked by a heavy police deployment, ordered by the Salazar-style Sawant government.

AAP volunteers also carried a 12-headed Ravan effigy symbolising the corrupt BJP cabinet including CM Sawant and their betrayal of Goa.

AAP leaders slammed the BJP for cancelling the so-called ‘Free Water’ scheme, a move they said proves the government’s contempt for the common man.

“The BJP Sarkar’s so-called ‘Free Water’ scheme was never about helping people.

It was a desperate reaction to AAP’s rising support after our Veez Andolan and public debate exposed BJP’s failures. The scheme was a poorly designed gimmick, now scrapped like every other BJP promise. This is classic BJP – jumlas before elections, betrayal after. We demand this anti-people decision be reversed immediately.” said MLA Capt. Venzy Viegas.

MLA Cruz Silva, while addressing the media, reminded everyone that Goa’s freedom fighters fought for dignity and good governance, not scams and suppression.

“Goa is facing its worst governance since Liberation, BJP’s govt has given corruption, misrule and policies that threaten our land, culture and identity. The true tribute to our freedom fighters is to pledge to remove this BJP government and save Goa.”

AAP Leader Amit Palekar dismantled CM Sawant’s justification that Goans were misusing the scheme by installing extra meters:

“Even if 50,000 families misused the scheme, the maximum loss would be ₹6 crore a year. That’s nothing compared to the crores BJP spent on a swearing-in ceremony in 2022. Instead of identifying defaulters, Sawant cancelled the scheme for everyone and called all Goans chors. But the real chor is the BJP government, which continues to enjoy free water, power, fuel and perks while denying relief to the aam aadmi. We demand that the CM and all ministers also pay their water bills just like every other Goan.”

All the various scams of the Sawant Sarkar were announced along with their estimated amounts. AAP alleged that this amount exceeds Rs. 10,000 crores.

AAP Leader Valmiki naik while lisitng the different scams which occurred under the BJP stated “From job scams to land grabs, BJP’s hands are drenched in corruption over ₹10,000 crore looted from Goans. yet this shameless government scrapped free water for ordinary people and called them chors. The truth is clear: the real chor sits in the Cabinet.”

The event concluded with a strong call to action: Goa doesn’t deserve betrayal disguised as governance. AAP will continue taking this fight across every panchayat and constituency until Goans get the dignity and services they truly deserve.
