Goa Khabar : The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) has issued a stinging condemnation of the state authorities for permitting a high-profile techno music event featuring international artist DJ Black Coffee at Anjuna, scheduled for the sacred occasion of Good Friday.

The Congress Party termed the decision “shocking and insensitive,” arguing that such an event directly clashes with the solemnity of one of the most significant days for the Christian community.

“A Deliberate Insult”

In a formal statement, the GPCC emphasized that Good Friday is a day reserved for prayer, reflection, and quiet observance.

“Allowing a loud music event of this nature on such a holy day is not merely inappropriate, but a clear and deliberate insult to the religious sentiments of the people of Goa,” the party stated.

Attack on Government Priorities

The opposition party took the opportunity to target the BJP-led administration, alleging a growing disconnect between the government and the cultural values of the state. The Congress leadership questioned the administration’s priorities, suggesting that commercial interests are being placed above the spiritual traditions and beliefs of Goans.

Demands for Immediate Action

The Congress Party has officially demanded the immediate cancellation of the event. They have urged the authorities to act with a sense of responsibility to:

  • Maintain communal harmony.
  • Uphold the sanctity of religious occasions.
  • Preserve Goa’s identity as a symbol of peaceful coexistence.

The GPCC concluded by reaffirming its stance to protect the faith and identity of the local population, vowing to strongly oppose any move that undermines the state’s long-standing tradition of mutual respect among communities.
