Vedanta Sesa Goa promotes empowerment & education through student engagement

Goa Khabar : Vedanta Sesa Goa, one of India’s most established mining companies with a seven-decade legacy in Goa and one of the largest merchant producers of pig iron, marked National Girl Child Day and the International Day of Education by organising a series of student engagement activities at Mahamaya High School, Maem. The initiatives reflect the company’s continued commitment to empowering girls & promoting holistic educational development among young learners.

As part of the programme, students participated in an interactive session with Simran Narvekar, a player from the Sesa Football Academy, who shared her personal journey and experiences in sport. Her interaction encouraged students-particularly girls-to pursue their aspirations with confidence, resilience, and determination. The session was followed by a quiz competition that provided students with an engaging platform to showcase their knowledge, analytical skills, and enthusiasm for learning.

Commenting on the occasion, Suman Gaonkar, Principal of Shri Mahamaya High School, stated, “We extend our sincere appreciation to Vedanta Sesa Goa for organising these activities on such significant days. The interaction with Ms. Simran Narvekar was highly motivating for our students, and the quiz encouraged them to think critically and participate enthusiastically. Such initiatives contribute meaningfully to the growth and confidence of our children.”

In addition to the school engagement programme, students and teachers from Holy Cross High School, Siolim–Bardez, undertook an educational tour of the Sesa Technical School (STS) and the Sanquelim Reclaimed Mines. The exposure visit offered valuable insights into vocational and technical education pathways, as well as sustainable mining and land reclamation practices, enriching the academic understanding of the participants.
