Goa Khabar : Geno broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute when Deeshank Kunkalikar intercepted a loose ball in midfield and slipped it to Sankalp Kankonkar. The midfielder showed great composure as he glided past his marker and sent a low strike into the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Vasco tried to respond quickly through Singsit and Reuben, but the Geno defence stayed compact and dealt with the pressure.

After the restart, Vasco came out stronger and found their equaliser in the 55th minute. Vellington Almeida delivered a perfect cross from the right that picked out Singsit, who rose highest to head home and bring the visitors level.

The parity didn’t last long as Geno soon regained control. Wasim Inamdar was brought down inside the box by Ronaldo Pereira, leaving the referee no choice but to point to the spot. Velito Cruz stepped up and calmly tucked the penalty into the bottom-left corner to restore Geno’s lead.

Minutes later, Geno extended their advantage with a flowing move. Velito turned provider this time, splitting the Vasco defence with a perfectly weighted through ball for Wasim, who rounded the keeper and squared it across goal for Lloyd Cardozo to tap in from close range and make it 3-1.

The game took a tense turn when Velito Cruz was shown a straight red card for retaliation, leaving Geno down to ten men for the final stretch. Vasco pushed hard to take advantage and came close through Singsit once again, but Geno goalkeeper Crylser Afonso stayed alert and produced a series of key saves to keep his side in control.

Despite Vasco’s late surge, Geno stood firm until the final whistle to secure a confident 3-1 victory and all three points.
