AITC Goa slams BJP 0ver rising fuel prices and land scams
Goa Khabar : Today, the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) Goa held a press conference exposing the BJP government’s systematic economic exploitation and environmental disregard that are hurting Goans. AITC Goa Convenor Mr. Mariano Rodrigues and AITC National Spokesperson Mr. Trajano D’Mello highlighted key failures that reflect the government’s misplaced priorities.

*1. Fuel Prices – A Burden on the Common Man*
Since 2014, the Central Government has collected over ₹2 lakh crore in cess on crude oil — funds not shared with States like Goa. Despite falling global prices, petrol and diesel have surged (33% and 74% respectively), and LPG prices have crossed ₹1,100 per cylinder. Meanwhile, the same fuel is sold cheaper to Bhutan. Why should Goans pay more?
*2. ₹50,000 Cr Sancoale Land Scam – Public Land Sold for Private Profit*
Industrial land leased at nominal rates was allegedly sold to private entities like BITS Pilani and Prestige Builders. No investigation has been initiated. This is not development — it is daylight robbery of public assets.
*3. Green Zones Converted to Concrete for a Select Few*
Over 21 lakh sq.m. of green land has been converted for construction in just 18 months, enabled by the March 2023 amendment to the Goa Town and Country Planning Act. Environmental concerns and public opposition were ignored.
