Punit advances to men’s singles, boys U-18 semis at Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Open 2025

Goa Khabar : Punit Fadte continued his fine run in the ongoing Bandodkar Panjim Gymkhana Open 2025, breezing past number one seed Siddharth Nunes 6-1 in the men’s singles, while securing another spot in the boys u-18 semifinals defeating Devaansh Naik 6-0. 

Joining Punit in the men’s singles semis is Santosh Gorawar, who held off a spirited challenge from Tanay Amonkar to win the quarterfinal match 6-3. In earlier pre-quarterfinal action, Nagesh naik overcame Pankaj Nanoskar 6-4, while Prince D’Silva and Raju Kundaikar advanced with wins over Lyndon Pinto (6-3) and Kedar Tari (6-2), respectively.

The ongoing state-ranking tournament saw Tithee Bhoomkar and partner Raju Kundaikar blank Junette Rodrigues and Kane Pereira 6-0 in the mixed doubles category. Asuntha Fleming and Nagesh Naik followed suit with a 6-0 win over Anindita Sarwate and Gary Steele, while Tomoyo Fujita and Prajat Halankar did the same against Lianne Ribeiro and Eugene D’Souza.

In the girls u-14 semis, Bhaavya Bhoomkar dominated Ahana 4-1, 4-0 to set up a much-anticipated final with Tvisha Sardesai, who edged past Urvi Panandikar 4-1, 4-3(4). Kyan Mavany entered the boys u-14 final with a 4-3(2), 4-0 win over Ethan Ataide.

Categories featuring young tennis enthusiasts saw spirited play as well: in the girls u-10, Samaira Patil, Aaliya Metry and Subaghya Manda recorded comprehensive wins, while Jai Mehta pulled off a nail-biting 7-6(4) victory over Kabir Thapar in the boys u-10.

In men’s doubles, the duo of Rajaram Paiginkar and Kyan Mavany ousted Arhan Gaunkar and Krishna Volvoikar 6-0. Prajat Halankar and Avadhut Palekar got the better of Cherian Joseph and Sarvesh Bhobe 6-3.

In the 45+ singles, Caetano Fernandes edged past Navin Cardoz in a thriller match, 6-4, 0-6, 10-6, to book a place in the final.

The tournament continues at Panjim Gymkhana till April 13 with the finals approaching across key age groups.
