Mapusa Police bust online cricket betting gang in Moira : arrest eight

Goa Khabar : On 06.03.2025 in a Major break through against illegal betting activities under the supervision of SDPO Mapusa Ashish Shirodkar after acting on tip received from sources, Team of Mapusa Police Station headed by PI Nikhil Palekar Succesfully conducted raid at house of one Mr. Cipriano Coelho , Pirazon , Moira , Bardez, Goa busted an online cricket betting racket operating in Moira, Bardez, Goa leading to arrest of 8 Males involved in the illegal betting syndicates.

During the raid following items used for placing online bets were seized and the accused who were running bets on ongoing champion trophy cricket Matches through electronic gadgets such as Mobile Phones, laptops, routers etc. The Gang was handling transactions by luring the bettors with high returns. The accused were using digital wallets to evade detection. Property W/Rs, 2,00,000 /- is seized.

2. Mr. Omprakash Kumar Yogi S/o Bhanwarlal Yogi, aged 28 years

3. Mr. Rakesh Kumar Darji S/o Shimbhu Dayal Darji, aged 25 years, All R/o Jhunjhunu , Rajasthan.

4. Mr. Sanjay Laxmandas Lalwani , aged 28 years

5. Mr. Deepak Sudhir Bagga aged 36 years

6. Mr. Laxmikant Parasram Joshi , aged 49 years, All R/o Nagpur, Maharashtra.

7. Mr. Krishna Mahender Mukhiya , aged 24 years, R/o Darbhanga, Bihar ,

8. Mr. Sparsh Lalit Bhargav , aged 32 years, R/o East Roahtag , Delhi

In this respect Mapusa Police Station Cr. No. 47 U/Sec. 3 , 4 of GDDPG Act , Sec, 67 of IT Act registered.

Further, all Eight accused were arrested immediately after registration of crime and remanded for 6 days Police custody. PI, Mapusa will submit report against the owner of House for violating the rules and regulations in force. Investigation is in progress under Supervision of PI Nikhil Palekar, DySP Ashish Shirodkar, SP North Akshat Kaushal IPS.
