Goa Khabar : In a decisive move to address environmental concerns, MLA Viresh Borkar caught a group of migrants in the act of dumping garbage in the fertile fields of Batim next to the water bodies.
The incident occurred on Thursday, drawing attention to the escalating issue of waste management in the region. Local residents reported a significant increase in littering and illegal dumping in the area, prompting MLA Borkar to investigate the situation personally.
During his inspection, he encountered a group of migrants discarding large amounts of garbage, including plastic waste, food remnants, and other debris, in the fields that are vital for local agriculture.

“Protecting our environment is a collective responsibility,” said Borkar. “We cannot allow our beautiful fields to be treated as dumping grounds. This behavior not only harms the ecosystem but also poses serious health risks to our community.”
The MLA has vowed to take stringent action against those involved in the illegal dumping. In the recently concluded Monsoon session in July, he emphasized the need for stricter enforcement of waste disposal laws and the importance of stringent measures for repeated offenders who are regularly involved in such illegal waste disposal.

In response to the growing concern, Borkar has called on the Revenue Minister to ensure his department keeps strict vigil at all garbage disposal in St. Andre constituency, he has also called on the CM who is also the Home Minsiter to make arrest of such offenders who take such incidents for granted. As Batim faces the challenge of waste disposal, community leaders and environmental advocates are rallying behind MLA Borkar’s efforts, emphasizing the need for collective action to preserve the area for future generations.
