Goa Khabar:After his popular healthcare initiatives for people of Benaulim, the Hon MLA of Benaulim Capt Venzy Viegas has now launched a special healthcare scheme for centenarians, i.e. super senior citizens who have crossed 100 years of age.
Launching the “Banaule Aamdar Shatabdi Bhalayki Yojana”, Capt Viegas informed that this scheme will now provide a number of health facilities, such as an annual health checkup and free consultation with specialist and super-specialist doctors, along with free medications. Viegas said that for the first time, even lab tests and radiology would be covered at no cost for centerians, besides the eye health and hearing aid facilities that are already being provided to all Benaulim residents.

Capt. Viegas made national news with his healthcare initiatives in Benaulim constituency recently, when Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister of Punjab Shri Bhagwant Singh Mann visited his constituency to witness the various works done. CM Kejriwal lauded the work done by Viegas, stating that he had achieved so much despite being an opposition MLA, while m BJP MLAs had not been able to open a single mohalla clinic for their constituents despite being in power.
It may be recalled that Capt Venzy has already started a “Good Health Clinic” on the lines of Mohalla Clinics of Delhi. This was followed by a “Vision Clinic” which offered free eye testing services, and even free cataract operations which even the ruling BJP Govt has not been able to provide in its DDSSY scheme. Viegas followed this up by opening a weekly “Paediatric Clinic” in Carmona village. Viegas went further and also set up a “Hearing Clinic” for Banaulikars which provides latest audio testing, along with a limited number of free hearing aids every month.
