Goa khabar: The state’s shore is witnessing increased footfall as the holiday season approaches. Drishti Marine is well prepared for the large number of tourists who are descending on its shores. Drishti Marine reported a rescue operation involving five individuals on Baga beach, while a pair which was out kayaking was rescued at Palolem beach. A successful search and rescue operation of three children was conducted on Baga beach, while Drishti lifesavers were also put on alert for a missing child at Calangute beach who was promptly reunited with the parents.
Drishti lifesavers were called to action in three separate instances, when children ranging from ages between five to eight were reported missing. In one instance, the proprietor of a shack approached the beach tower to report two children who had wandered into his restaurant. Drishti lifesavers made several announcements, to which the parents of the children responded. A waiter from a shack near the Baga tower also reported a missing child of one of the guests. After a quick search, Drishti lifesavers found the child in another shack a considerable distance away. A distraught father approached the Calangute tower to report his six-year-old daughter missing. The girl was discovered and returned to the father with the assistance of the jeep and PA system.

Thirteen Karnataka residents on vacation were caught in a difficult situation at Baga beach. Six members of the group ventured further into the sea, while the rest remained on the coast. The six were caught in a swift and turbulent current, rendering them distressed and unable to swim back to land. Darshan and Pandu, Drishti lifesavers stationed at the tower, were alerted by a sudden commotion on the shore and rushed to secure the individuals with a surfboard, rescue tube, and jetski. Five were successfully returned to shore, while one was still reported missing. Following a thorough search, the individual who had been located further away from the scene of the incident was brought back and CPR was administered to his comatose body. The Drishti lifesaving team took the man to the nearest hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead.
At Palolem, a couple between the ages of 22 and 23 who were kayaking in the sea were stuck on a rock a short distance from the shore after an unfortunate boat mishap. A fisherman notified the Drishti lifesavers on duty about the couple’s dilemma. Two lifesavers raced their jetskis towards the stranded couple and successfully returned them to the shore.
