Goa Khabar: In a major community initiative aimed at improving road safety and restoring smooth public transport movement, Sanket Arsekar led a large-scale bush-cutting drive along the Bandoli-Kamarkhand road stretch in Savordem.

The drive covered approximately 7 to 8 kilometres, with around 200 local volunteers joining the initiative to clear thick bushes, shrubs, wild creepers and vegetation that had grown along both sides of the road.

Overgrown Bushes Had Obstructed Road

According to information provided by the organisers, overgrown vegetation and low-hanging tree branches had created serious difficulties for commuters using the Bandoli-Kamarkhand route.

The problem had become particularly severe at certain locations, where bushes and branches were obstructing the roadway and affecting the movement of vehicles.

The obstruction had also reportedly affected the Kadaba bus service, causing inconvenience to residents dependent on public transport.

Around 200 Volunteers Join Drive

Responding to the situation, Sanket Arsekar and his team mobilised local volunteers to undertake the extensive cleaning operation.

Around 200 volunteers participated in the drive, clearing vegetation along the lengthy road stretch. The initiative focused on improving visibility for motorists, creating more usable road space and reducing inconvenience to commuters.

The participation of a large number of volunteers also highlighted the role of community involvement in addressing local civic and infrastructure-related issues.

Focus on Safer Travel

The initiative was conducted with the message “Cleaner Roads | Safer Travel | Better Tomorrow.”

Arsekar emphasised the importance of collective community efforts in addressing problems affecting residents and commuters. The drive sought not only to clean the roadside but also to make the route safer and more accessible for buses and other vehicles.

The volunteers worked across the Bandoli-Kamarkhand stretch to remove vegetation that had encroached upon the roadside and affected visibility.

The initiative is expected to provide relief to residents and daily commuters using the route while facilitating safer and smoother movement of public and private transport in the area.
