Congress and Goa Forward Party to Strengthen Alliance in the Larger Interest of Goa

Goa Khabar: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Shri Girish Chodankar today held a cordial, constructive and fruitful meeting with Goa Forward Party President Shri Vijai Sardesai, during which the two leaders held detailed discussions on the pressing challenges confronting Goa under the BJP Government led by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant.

The meeting witnessed a comprehensive exchange of views on the prevailing political, social and economic situation in the State, with both leaders expressing concern over issues affecting the lives and aspirations of the people of Goa. The discussions also focused on the need to build a stronger and more coordinated opposition capable of offering the State a credible and people-oriented alternative.

An important aspect of the meeting was the shared commitment to further strengthen the alliance between the Indian National Congress and the Goa Forward Party in the larger interest of Goa. Both leaders agreed that formal discussions will be initiated shortly to build a wider consensus and evolve a common roadmap for the future.

Speaking after the meeting, GPCC President Shri Girish Chodankar said:

“The discussions were cordial, positive and forward-looking. We are committed to strengthening our alliance in the larger interest of Goa. We will soon begin formal consultations to build greater consensus and ensure that our collective efforts are directed towards providing Goa with a stable, transparent, accountable and people-centric alternative.”

Shri Chodankar emphasized that a successful alliance is founded not merely on electoral arithmetic but on shared values and collective responsibility.

“An alliance succeeds only when it is guided by discipline, mutual respect, alliance dharma and the willingness to make sacrifices for a common purpose. These principles will continue to guide our partnership as we work together for the welfare of Goa and its people.”

Both leaders reaffirmed that their common objective is to unite democratic and like-minded forces to effectively challenge the BJP Government, which they alleged has been marred by corruption, scams, administrative failures and anti-people policies.

They reiterated their resolve to work together to provide Goa with a transparent, accountable, responsive and development-oriented government that protects the interests, identity and aspirations of every Goan.

The meeting marks the beginning of a renewed process of dialogue and cooperation aimed at strengthening opposition unity and presenting the people of Goa with a credible, stable and progressive political alternative.
