Goa Forward Slams Three-Day Assembly Session, Demands Full 20-Day Sitting

Goa Khabar: Goa Forward Party President and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai has strongly criticised the BJP-led Goa Government over the three-day Monsoon Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, calling it an attempt to avoid accountability on critical public issues.

In a statement, Sardesai said he had challenged the government outside the Assembly to hold at least a week-long session to allow meaningful discussion on Goa’s pressing concerns. However, he alleged that the government had restricted the session to just three days, preventing adequate debate.

He said several important issues, including mining, unemployment, electricity privatisation, water scarcity, farmers’ distress, and the alleged piecemeal conversion and sale of Goa’s land to outsiders, deserved detailed discussion in the House.

Sardesai accused the BJP Government of being “afraid of accountability” and unwilling to face the concerns of Goans whose livelihoods depend on these issues. He asserted that the government was avoiding transparency by limiting the duration of the Assembly session.

The Goa Forward Party President reiterated his demand for a full 20-working-day Assembly session, stating that he would continue raising the issues of every Goemkar until the government addressed them. He added that Goa deserves answers from its government rather than what he described as an attempt to escape public scrutiny through a shortened Assembly session.

Condemning the three-day sitting, the Goa Forward Party described it as a direct attack on Goem, Goemkar, and Goemkarponn, and urged the BJP Government to act responsibly, listen to the people, and ensure adequate time for legislative debate on matters affecting the state.
