Goa Khabar : The Goa Cyber Crime Police have busted an illegal call centre operating in South Goa and arrested six persons for allegedly cheating citizens in the United States through a fake loan scam.
The raid was conducted on July 16 after the Cyber Crime Police received reliable information about illegal online activities. During the operation, police found an illegal call centre being run by Visvadipsinh Harisingh Jadav (29) of Bhavnagar, Gujarat, along with five employees.
Police said the accused posed as loan company agents under the name “Payday” and lured US citizens by offering instant loans. Victims were allegedly asked to make payments through Apple Gift Cards, Macy’s, Green Dot MoneyPak, Razer Gold and Xbox gift cards instead of receiving loans.
The arrested accused are Visvadipsinh Harisingh Jadav, Vishal Singh, Himanshu Prajapati, Trushit Sawant, Mayur Sawant and Dhanraj Valera.
During the raid, the Cyber Crime Police seized six laptops, six headsets, one TP-Link router and six Apple iPhones, collectively valued at around ₹8 lakh.
The operation was carried out by a team led by PI Deepak Pednekar, under the overall supervision of SP Cyber Crime Raju Raut Dessai.
All six accused have been produced before the court for police custody, and further investigation is in progress.
