Goa Khabar : In a significant move to strengthen international ties and tap into the Central Asian market, Goa Tourism officially inaugurated the Grand Goa Pavilion at the 26th edition of the Kazakhstan International Tourism Fair (KITF) 2026.
The event was marked by a high-profile inauguration led by Rohan Khaunte, Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Government of Goa, alongside Smagulov Olzhas Mukhtarovich, Deputy Akim of Almaty City, and H.E. Y.K. Sailas Thangal, Indian Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
Beyond Sun and Sand: A Future-Ready Goa
Delivering the keynote address, Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte emphasized that Goa is evolving into a high-value, sustainable global destination.
“Goa is more than just its 104-kilometre coastline; it is a feeling and a diverse experience. We are here to showcase the very best of Goa—from our hinterlands to our wellness retreats—to the people of Kazakhstan,” the Minister stated.
Currently, Kazakhstan is connected to India via Air Astana (through Mumbai and Delhi). However, the Minister revealed that the government is in advanced discussions with FlyArystan and SCAT Airlines to establish direct chartered flights from Almaty and Astana specifically to Goa, ensuring seamless travel for tourists.
Focus on Sustainability and Culture
The Goa Pavilion at KITF 2026 has been designed to reflect a shift toward Regenerative Tourism. Moving away from the traditional “sun-and-sand” image, the pavilion highlights:
- Hinterland Exploration: Showcasing waterfalls, dense forests, and heritage villages.
- Wellness & Eco-Tourism: Promoting homestays and eco-conscious travel retreats.
- Authentic Cuisine: Offering a glimpse into Goa’s unique culinary heritage.
Strategic Partnership with Central Asia
The pavilion serves as a hub for B2B meetings between Goan delegates and Central Asian travel trade stakeholders, media, and potential investors. With leading global destinations like South Korea, Egypt, and Malaysia also present, Goa’s participation marks a strategic step in positioning the state as a premium destination for “meaningful travel.”
Through this engagement at KITF 2026, Goa Tourism aims to boost bilateral tourism flows, secure better aviation connectivity, and highlight the state’s commitment to preserving its cultural authenticity while welcoming the world.
