Goa Khabar: The Vibrant Goa Foundation (VGF) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and several important industrial bodies in the city on Tuesday.
The industrial bodies include the Goa Management Association (GMA), Goa Technology Association (GTA), Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) and the Goa chapters of the Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI) and the National Institute of Personnel Management (NIPM).
This is a significant development in the run-up to the Vibrant Goa-Global Expo and Summit 2019 (VG-GES 2019), arguably Goa’s largest business convention ever to be held between October 17-19 this year at the Shyama Prasad Mukerji stadium in Taleigao.
In a media release issued on the occasion, Manoj Caculo, president, GCCI said, “The Goan economy has been stagnant for some time now and no good fresh investments are coming to the state. The chamber feels that something like Vibrant Goa is very much needed to help showcase Goa as a good investment destination. The chamber is therefore supporting this initiative and has signed a formal MOU with the Vibrant Goa Foundation.”
Caculo also said that the GCCI would partner VG-GES 2019 and would assist Vibrant Goa Foundation in promoting and organizing various parallel festivals in the state of Goa during the VG-GES 2019.
In his statement, Rajkumar Kamat, president, Vibrant Goa Foundation said,
“The Vibrant Goa-Global Expo and Summit 2019 is being organised for the benefit of businesses in Goa. The objective is to boost trade and exports, catalyse collaborations and generate interest among investors for sustained growth of business which of course will lead to steady growth in employment creation.”
“Since the primary goal is to benefit the trade and industry professionals and entrepreneurs in Goa, it is necessary that Vibrant Goa has close coordination with the GCCI and other industry organisations who represent the stake holders to ensure maximum participation for the success of the event.”
Kamat also said that this was beginning of formal MOUs. “As we move ahead, we will sign MOUs with many more organisations,” he added.
The Vibrant Goa Foundation (VGF) is a public trust registered with the Government of Goa and the Niti Ayog.
Vibrant Goa 2019 is based on the Vibrant Gujarat model which brings together global business leaders, investors, corporations, thought leaders, policy and opinion makers to understand and explore business opportunities in the state.
A total of 2,000 business delegates including at least 350 overseas delegates are expected to attend the first edition of Vibrant Goa Global Expo & Summit 2019.
The VG-GES 2019 will be held in Goa between October 17-19 this year and is organized by VGF in partnership with the GCCI, Global Network, BNI and the Government of Goa. It is also supported by various industry bodies in Goa, besides the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC). The Dempo Group and Madam Rosa Distilleries are Diamond partners and Tangentia is a Gold partner for the event.
