Goa khabar : The Green Fashion India (GFI) – Fifth edition of international conference of K. S. S. S’s School of Fashion Technology, Pune brings to Goa “Green Connect For Social Design” on 5thand 6thof October at Kala Academy, Goa. MKSSS’s School Of Fashion Technology, Pune is a premier institute imparting Fashion Education since 1998.

The Chairman of MKSSS, Mr. Promoad Gorhe in his welcome speech thanked the Tourism & Sports Minister of Goa, Hon. Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar & the Guest of honour Mr. Rahul Mehta President, CMAI (Clothing Manufacturers Association of India) and Ex- President IAF (International Apparel Federation) & Chairman, Advisory Board.
The Chairman stressed on two important needs for the society to prosper, they are prosperity through wealth generation & cherishing the value system of the young generation, he further said that combination of both will make the nation truly strong and prosperous, he also mentioned of how the Institute is working towards influencing the young minds towards the Green Movement, and hoped that their initiative would bear positive results.
Minister of Goa, Hon. Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar expressed pleasure & and extended his warm & best wishes to the institute for choosing Goa as their destination for having such a conference in Goa. He thanked the institute for taking the initiative towards promoting Green fashion in India with natural, organic, environmental friendly fabric, natural colour & as the clothing is a necessity at all stages of life.
Dr. M. Hundekar the principal of the Institute, welcomed Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar, all the dignitaries, artisan, designers, moderators, exhibitors and the students.
She highlighted on the strong Indian history where practice of recycle-reuse is carried out in the form of hand spinning, hand weaving, use of natural colour dyes. But with industrialization, globalization & modernisation the lifestyle of Indian consumers are impacted with higher prices. She said fortunately this is the time where we should get sensitive towards environment, society, as we have ignored and have led towards the devastation of our environment through toxic chemical, water pollution, use of pesticides in agriculture for growing natural fibres especially cotton.

He enlighten us on the three aspects of sustainability : 1) Economic Sustainability 2) Social Sustainability & environmental sustainability. He explained in details how the three aspects or phase are interconnected for a business. And how the planet needs to be protected He in his words stressed on how important such conference are to the young minds have to carry the same forward & implement these initiatives in the careers.
The President GFI- Arch. Ms. Mohana Kadam, expressd the need to generate practical solutions for Green sustainable fashions, a structure which can be suitable for a variety of socio- economical condition which can then only uphold the success of this initiative. With this thought the forum will soon explore and brainstorm in various forms of discussion, workshop and finally demonstrate it the form of fashion show. The green Family 500 students 20 education institutes 14 designers of national & international repute, and more than 30 industrial suppliers & experts from the Fashion fraternity. She urged the new & young dynamic designer to these except challenges to resolve such complex issues and mould oneself to consciously choose to practice ethically and promote fair trade. With all the creative effort & exposure together, we will be able Develop a road map towards sustainability Green Fashion.

Panel discussions would be held on practices and Innovation in Crafts by Ms. Poonam Pandit (Kalakaar) & Upasana Designer from (Auroville), Practices and Innovation in Technology by Lenzing Practices and Innovation in Education by Mr. Adrien Roberts – GUCCI Initiative with AC&M Practices and Innovation in Design by Mr. Apurva Kothari ( No Nasties) and Mr. Kelshikar, Practices and Innovation in Promotion of Green Fashion by Mr. Gautam Vazirani, Strategist and Curator of Sustainable Fashion – IMG Reliance / Lakme Fashion Week. The panel discussions will be Moderated by Mr. Rahul Bhajekar, Managing Director at Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and Mr. Hemang Agrawal, Director, Surekha Group of Industries, Varanasi.
A Flash Mob on “My Own Way” Students Activity and other Students Competitions Invitee Paper Presentations, will be final activity for the 1stday.
The 2nd day of the event will commence at 11.00 am with the “Students Green Fashion Collection Competition”. Green Fashion Showcase” (Fashion Show) will be held by well known designers like Hemang Agrawal, Swati Argade, Karishma Shahani Khan, thereafter a panel Discussion with all, moderated by Ms. Meher Castelino.
A Briefing by Mr. BenjaimnItter and Mr. Philippe on “Ethical Fashion Show from Europe,will be held.The Grand Finale Designer Showcase by Mr. Rajesh Pratap Singh Will also be held. The event will conclude with the Release of Research Journal and Prize Distribution Ceremony at 5pm.
The “Showcase of Sustainable Fashion Work” (Competitions) Provide the Knowledge transfer at Various Levels By Connecting The Above Database And Various Traits Of Fashion & Textiles. The Green Fashion India (GFI), Platform is the open source to highlight the initiatives in Sustainability through Fair and Ethical practices by the participants. The variety in the platforms is provided to showcase the Sustainable fashion work at every stage that changes the perspectives of living life. The objective through the means of Platform will facilitate sharing & transferring the ideas for Sustainable Fashion Work that will be judged, acknowledged & showcased in the form of various competitions.
Paper Presentation on any of the Sub Themes of the Conference
The competition is open to all fashion students, faculties and industry experts. The best three paper presentation will be displayed in the form of posters and the participant can also display the actual product. All the selected papers will be published in the GFI E-publication… The abstract for oral and poster presentation should not exceed 300 words and should not be less than 280 words. The title of the abstract should be followed by the details of Presenter 1 and 2 for Name, Institute, contact details and e-mail id. (It should be an open word file) For final paper it should be of minimum 5000 words and maximum 5200 words.(It should be an open word file)
“Green Fashion Showcase” (Fashion Show)
The “My Own Way“ by Green Fashion India, is a sustainable fashion design competition inspiring students to create beautiful and wearable clothing taking into account traditional crafts. . These traditional crafts are required to be preserved and translated into modern times in order to compete with today’s fashion world. For the competition designers are asked to combine sustainable practices on the one hand and incorporating traditional crafts on the other hand. The 2018 competition is open to students pursuing fashion or related studies, enrolled at an Indian university or having Indian citizenship studying abroad.
The Student are challenged to design a fashion collection that will keep in mind traditional crafts combined with sustainable social design practices. Your designs must inspire your customer to proudly wear their attitude of their heritage while also considering the environment and society surrounding them. An informed loyal customer of a specific brand with application and appreciation of traditional crafts, who wants to proudly show their passion for the traditional craft but at the same time having a modern look the end user can be women, men as well as kids
Grand Finale during Green Fashion India Conference 5th October2018 in Kala Academy, Goa, India. Impress the judges. – For the final judging, your designs will be scored in four categories of equal weighting – Most Innovative Concept, Best Social Contribution, Most Commercially Viable, Most Sustainable – For the Grand Final judging, the additional category of workmanship will be added when the judges can see your collection. Students have to show case 6 garments.
