Goa Khabar : Day four of the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Table Tennis Championship 2018 started off with exciting matches played out in the Junior Girls category. The state level ranking tournament which is one of the few of its kind in the state started on14th October at the newly constructed arena at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias in Miramar.
The Junior Girls category saw some of the most exciting matches being played out with Prutha Parrikar and Sneha Rane going the distance in the initial matches. Prutha Parrikar was on top of her game right from the start and eventually closed out the game at 3-0 (11-4, 11-6, 11-5) defeating Simran Kubal. In the second match Sneha Rane defeated Janvi Naik Dalal scoring 3-1 (11-7, 9-11, 11-8, 11-5).
Day five of the championship will see Cadet girls and Sub Junior girls in action. Matches are scheduled between 4pm and 8:30pm in the evening.
Day three of the TT championship saw exciting matches between Sub Junior Boys where Amaan Chowhan, Priyam Redkar, Azriel Fernandes, Fynn Gonsalves, Aaron Farias, Agastya Motwani, Swayam Chodankar and Ved Sardesai made their way to quarter finals. On their way Amaan Chowhan defeated Darren Duarte 3-0 (11-5, 11-4, 11-4). Priyam Redkar defeated Rikhil Gopi 3-2 (9-11, 11-5, 6-11, 11-8, 11-4). Azriel Fernandes had a draw with Shubham Chipkar. Fynn Gonsalves defeated Soham Kambli with 3-1 (11-8, 6-11, 11-9, 11-7). Aaron Farias defeated Harshawardhan Bharne with 3-0 (11-3, 11-8, 11-6). Agastya Motwani defeat Aditya Kannyze with 3-0 (11-5, 11-3, 11-4). Swayam Chodankar defeated Siddhant Parsekar with 3-2 (10-12, 11-6,9-11,11-8,11-9) and Ved Sardesai defeated Russel D’Cunha with 3-0 (11-7, 11-5, 12-10).
The table tennis championshipis an annual fixture on the state’s sports calendar slated to be held in each year.
The tournament includes eleven categories – Under 12(Cadet Girls and Boys), Under 16 (Sub Junior Girls and Boys), Under 18 (Junior Girls and Boys) Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles, Veteran Singles (Above 40), Veteran Singles (Above 50) and Veteran Singles (Above 60). Prizes collectively amounting to INR 43,000 will be awarded to winners in the various categories.
Over the past 80 years under the leadership of various individuals, the club has innovated and improved keeping in the mind the requirement of its members. The club offers facilities for playing badminton, squash, table tennis, billiards and tennis within its premises.
