Goa Khabar:The State level function of Independence Day was celebrated in the precincts of Old Secretariat, Panaji. Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant hoisted the tricolour and received the Guard of Honour from Goa Police Battalion headed by Police Inspector, Shri. Sushant Joshi.
Speaker, Shri. Rajesh Patnekar; Minister for Revenue, Smt. Jennifer Monserrate; Minister for Protocol, Shri Mauvin Godinho; Advocate General of Goa Shri. Devidas Pangam; Member of Parliament, Shri. Vinay Tendulkar, Member of Legislative Assembly Shri. Sudin Dhavalikar, Mayor, Shri. Uday Madkaikar; Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai IAS; Director General of Police, Shri. Mukesh Kumar Meena, IPS; Chairman EDC Shri. Sadanand Shet Tanawade, former MLA Shri. Siddharth Kunkoliekar, secretaries to the Government and Senior Government Officers, were present on the occasion.
Stressing on ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas & Sabka Vishwas,’ the Chief Minister urged people of Goa to contribute in fulfilling the mission of our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi to make India ‘Atmanirbhar’ and make Goa a ‘Swayampurna’ (self-sufficient or self sustainable) State.
“During the multiple lockdowns put in the wake of COVID-19, the State has been able to serve its citizens with best care and facilities. In order to facilitate good Governance post COVID-19, a basic survey report has been recently submitted by the GPARD and Directorate of Higher and Technical Education. This report will help in making all the village Panchayats and Municipal bodies to be Surmani: beautiful and clean, Susankrut: maintaining the cultural heritage, Santulit: Developed and ecological balance, Suvidya: civic and academic education to all, Samruddha: entrepreneurship, opportunities to all, Sushasit: good governance, Sawanandi: improving the happiness quotient and Swayampurna: Self reliant,” the Chief Minister said.
He further informed that from October 2, 2020, every village will be adopted by departments and colleges to enable the policy makers to reach the common person. “An economic revival committee is evaluating the financial state of the State which will assure to provide best quality infrastructure to the people of Goa post COVID-19,” the Chief Minister informed.
Dr. Sawant also appealed the entrepreneurs in the neighbouring states to invest in Goa and make use of skilled Goan manpower assuring them of all support to set up their units in the State.
He also mentioned that the IT policy will be finalised soon along with other major projects such as the subsidy cell for Solar rooftops. The Mopa airport and other infrastructural projects will be completed in the best possible time. “Every village panchayat will have a citizen service centre wherein information about schemes of all the departments will be available under one roof through the village panchayat,” Dr. Sawant told me.
He also congratulated the Goa Board and students who passed std X with flying colours.
Dr Sawant lauded the efforts of the Corona frontline warriors for their courage and dedicated services. As a token of appreciation, he presented certificates to Directorate of Health, Goa Medical College, Directorate General of Police, ESI hospital, Kadamba Transport Corporation, Goa Tourism Development Corporation, District Magistrate- North & South, GHRDC, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Directorate of Municipal Administration & Directorate of Panchayat.
He also gave an oath to everyone present on the occasion to make Goa Self Reliant and take Goa to great heights.
