Kala Academy in collaboration with India International Rural Cultural Center, New Delhi is
organizing “PRAVAH’- a 2 day festival of Classical Dances on 8 th & 9 th October 2017 daily at
6.30 p.m at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Mandir, Kala Academy Complex, Panaji.
After the inaugural function on 8 th October 2017, at 6.20 p.m, renowned Bharatanatyam Dancer
Smt. Padmalaksshme Suresh from Chennai and her 10 member group will present
Bharatanatyam Dance Recital in Group Choreography. On 9 th Oct.2017, Kathak Dancer Ms.
Sohini Debnath & Ms. Debashree Bhattacharya from Kolkata along with their 3 co- artists will
present group choreography in Kathak dance.
Smt. Padmalaksshme Suresh is founder-director of Padmalaya and a great exponent of the
Bharatanatyam style of classical dance. She has carved a niche for herself as a performer,
teacher and choreographer. She has learnt under guidance of Kalaimamani Smt. Ranganayaki
Jayarmam. She is M.A Gold Medalist from Madras University and M.Phil holder. She is an ‘A’
Graded artist of Doordarshan. She has performed many thematic solos and dance productions on
Ms. Sohini Debnath & Ms. Debashree Bhattacharya have performed for a number of prestigious
institutions including the Sangeet Natak Akademi and Kathak Kendra, Delhi. Ms. Debashree
holds a Sangeet Prabhakar in Kathak from PrayagSangitSamiti, Allahabad. Her teaching
experience extends to workshops for dancer and non-dancers in India and abroad. Ms. Sohini
Debnath is the winner of many awards including Gold Medals at the Doverlane Music
Conference, State Music Academy and the Governors Gold Medal at the East Zonal competition
organized by EZCC. Both the kathak artists are SamskritikiShreyaskar and Ranan Reportory
members and senior disciples of renowned kathak danseuse Smt. Rani Karnaa.
